Paediatrics is a branch of medicine dedicated to the treatment and specialised care of infants, children and adolescents.
Child and Adolescent Unit
The Child and Adolescent Unit provides inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory care for children and adolescents aged from maternity discharge to 16 years of age.
The unit is a family orientated facility with 12 beds and parents and carers are encouraged to stay overnight and be actively involved with their child’s care during their admission.
The unit is staffed by paediatricians and paediatric nurses and provides support services from an excellent team of allied health professionals.
Parents Room
The Child and Adolescent Unit has a spacious parent’s room, which was set-up through donations received from the local fundraising group Flagon & Dragon. It is equipped with a kitchenette, washing facilities, lounges and a television.
Children’s Activities
Play areas and activities are an important aspect of children’s health and recovery, as visiting a hospital can be a worrying and daunting experience.
We have indoor as well as outdoor play areas available for children and their siblings and a dedicated team of volunteers who run a children’s playgroup in the mornings.
