Overview
Construction of the new Moranbah Hospital has started.
The new hospital is a modular design and forms part the Queensland Government’s the Building Rural and Remote Health Program.
It will replace the existing hospital and provide the Moranbah community with increased emergency department spaces and equipment, a CT scanner in an expanded imaging department and a helipad.
Allied health, child health, antenatal and postnatal care and mental health services will be integrated into the hospital improving patient flow and the amenity for staff and patients.
There will be 12 inpatient beds, an ambulatory care area, rehabilitation gymnasium and an enhanced outpatient department.
Six new staff accommodation units will also be part of the hospital project.
When complete, the Moranbah Hospital will deliver enhanced, contemporary models of care for the people of Moranbah closer to home.
Timeline
- Site establishment – November 2023
- Modular unit delivery – June 2024
- Completion – expected late 2024
- Construction of helipad – early 2025 (post demolition of existing hospital)
