Dear consumers and community members
I am delighted to announce that Jo Whitehead has been appointed as the permanent Chief Executive for the Mackay Hospital and Health Service (Mackay HHS). The health service welcomed Jo to the position on Monday, 27 February 2017.
Jo has come to Mackay from Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service where she worked as both Acting Chief Executive and Deputy Chief Executive. Prior to this she had a varied career in the UK with more than 30 years of experience in healthcare.
Jo has a strategic focus and collaborative leadership style focusing on performance and accountability to deliver the best healthcare service to our communities. Her achievements in partnership development, operational management, clinician engagement and ability in the area of risk, quality and improvement will build on the successes of Mackay HHS.
The Mackay Hospital and Health Board is delighted about her appointment.
It is also timely to acknowledge Helen Chalmers’ significant contribution to Mackay HHS in her time as Executive Director Operations Mackay and interim Chief Executive. Mackay HHS has benefited from Helen’s extensive executive healthcare leadership experience and operational strength. Her genuine commitment to building partnerships and engaging our workforce has positioned us well for the future. I would also like to personally thank Helen on behalf of the Mackay Hospital and Health Board for her support and to wish Helen every success in her future endeavours.
Yours sincerely,
Tim Mulherin
