Ten fresh faces have been welcomed to the Mackay Hospital and Health Service Consumer Advisory Partners (CAP) this week, with three members also continuing their appointment.
The CAP represents and provides a voice for consumers, carers, and members of the community from the Mackay, Whitsunday and coal fields regions.
Mackay HHS Chief Executive Lisa Davies Jones said she was excited to see a mix of new and returning faces in the group.
“The new members will bring new voices and experiences to the table while members carrying over will offer their knowledge from previously being on the group,” she said.
“They are all passionate about how they can make a difference to healthcare for the community.
“I would also like to thank our outgoing members who, over the past two years, have used their personal experiences and connections to positively influence the way we deliver healthcare.”
The CAP has gone from strength to strength since it was first established five years ago. This year saw a record number of applicants applying for the group.
“We received a large number of quality applications, with each person having their own story to share about their experience with healthcare,” she said.
“I am pleased to say that this year we have a really diverse group, representing people of all ages and backgrounds.
“A number of the members are also very active in our communities.”
Ms Davies Jones said community and the voices of the people the Mackay HHS serves playing an essential role in shaping the future of healthcare service.
“Our commitment is to ensure the voice of our consumers, carers and community is at the heart of everything we do,” she said.
“Through groups, such as the CAP, we partner with consumers to ensure we continue to deliver person-centred, quality and safe care.”
