Mackay Hospital and Health Service has started community consultation to help shape the future of maternity care.
The Shaping Maternity Care Together project is focused on partnering with community, staff and healthcare providers to capture their perspectives and experience.
Chief Executive Lisa Davies Jones said the aim was to make maternity care the best it could be for women, expectant parents and their families.
The health service has launched a section on its website with a survey and other details on how to get involved to have your say.
“This is a very exciting stage in the project as we start consultation directly with our stakeholders on the future of maternity care across our whole health service,” Ms Davies Jones said.
“This project is very much about shaping maternity care together with our community, staff and our healthcare partners.
“In September there will be a range of engagement activities conducted for our community including kitchen table discussions and yarning circles run by our consultation champions, face to face focus group sessions across the health service and online webinars.
“I really encourage you to get involved in the Shaping Maternity Care Together project as it provides an opportunity for everyone to contribute to making our maternity care the best it can be.
“Your involvement will help shape maternity care to ensure we hear the voices of different stakeholders. The feedback we receive will help inform a plan for maternity care now and for the future”, Ms Davies Jones said.
The project website and survey is now live at www.mackay.health.qld.gov.au/maternity-codesign/
