Refer a patient to emergency
If you're a GP, call the emergency department before you send your patient there.
Make sure your patient has their referral letter with them. You can fax more information to the emergency department if needed.
For Mackay Base Hospital emergency department fax 07 4885 5219. For other emergency departments, use the fax number for the hospital. You can find phone and fax numbers on our hospitals and health centres page.
If your patient is arriving by ambulance, make sure they have their referral letter and any clinical handover documents with them.
