Mackay HHS has 629 new positive COVID-19 cases to make a total of 3006 active cases throughout the Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday local government areas.
Of these seven are in the COVID-19 Ward at Mackay Base Hospital and 43 are in Mackay Base Hospital Virtual Ward.
We believe the increase is due to a data backlog being resolved. The data is a combination of PCR testing done by the Mackay HHS, by private pathology providers and home RAT results people have lodged at https://www.qld.gov.au/rat-positive
For case numbers by local government area see Queensland COVID-19 statistics | Health and wellbeing | Queensland Government (www.qld.gov.au)
A total of 551 COVID-19 tests were done by Mackay HHS on 10 January 2022.
We continue to ask people to come forward for testing if they have any symptoms of COVID-19.
Everyone needs to consider any movement through the community as a risk for COVID-19 infection.
Please make sure you maintain social distancing, perform regular hand hygiene, monitor for symptoms and get tested if you develop any symptoms.
There is a raft of information on the Queensland Health website. Please see:
