Salary and benefits

We offer competitive salaries and a range of other benefits, including:

  • generous superannuation
  • additional salary allowances
  • flexible working arrangements
  • flexible leave options
  • salary packaging.

Your salary will depend on the type of role you do, your level of experience and where you work. Find the salary rate for your role on the Queensland Health Careers website.

You may also get allowances for things like shift work or for completing higher education qualifications.

Superannuation

We contribute up to 12.75% of your salary into superannuation.

The superannuation fund used by Queensland Government departments is QSuper, but you can use a different one.

If you don’t choose another fund, we'll pay your superannuation contributions to QSuper.

Salary packaging

Salary packaging or sacrificing is a way of paying for things from your salary before you're taxed. This reduces how much income tax you pay.

You can salary sacrifice things like:

  • rent or mortgage repayments
  • insurances
  • car expenses
  • travel expenses.

Read more about salary packaging on the Queensland Health Careers website.

Leave entitlements

We offer generous leave entitlements, including:

  • extra annual leave for working on public holidays
  • leave to care for family members, such as sick children
  • long service leave

  • sick leave
  • leave without pay to travel
  • leave loading starting at 14%.
