For case numbers by local government area see Queensland COVID-19 statistics | Health and wellbeing | Queensland Government (www.qld.gov.au)
We are urging people to re-think their need to be out and about in the community.
The number of positive cases is increasing dramatically in our health service and we can expect this trend to continue.
There are positive cases in most towns and communities in the health service. Airlie Beach in particular has a high number of cases.
We are aware that people want to celebrate with family and friends at this time of year
However, we are seeing the virus spread from family gatherings and larger events in the area.
Please wear your mask, wash your hands and avoid being in crowded areas if possible.
A total of 953 COVID-19 tests were done by Mackay HHS on 3 January 2022 of which 379 were at the Showgrounds Clinic and 334 at Proserpine Hospital
Demand for testing is high and our drive-through clinic and emergency departments across the health service. Private providers such as SNP and QML also offer testing.
Due to the heat we will be changing the hours of the Mackay Showgrounds testing clinic from 2.30pm – 11pm as of tomorrow 5 January and will relocate to the Big Shed.
People with booked appointments will be notified and given a number to call to make a new booking.
Once again, I ask that people are patient and kind to healthcare workers who are doing their best to care for you.
