To make your stay easier and more comfortable, please bring with you:
- Medications that you are currently taking
- Any Doctor’s letters, reports, referrals relating to your current admission
- Information about allergies and / or adverse medication reactions
- All relevant x-rays and scans
- Next of kin details and contact phone numbers
Identification and documents
- Your identification
- Your admission letter
- Medicare card, pension card, Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) card, private health fund details
- A copy of an Advanced Health Directive or Enduring Power of Attorney if available
To feel comfortable during your stay
- Rubber soled slippers, nonslip footwear
- Comfortable sleep wear and gown
- Comfortable clothes for daytime
- Personal toiletries including any ointments, eye or ear drops
- Any tablets and medicines, prescribed by your doctor or purchased from a pharmacist, which you take regularly
- Books, magazines, writing materials, music with personal headphones or other items to help pass the time
- A small amount of cash for the hospital shop and cafe
- Your glasses or contact lenses, if you wear them
- Your hearing aid, if you have one
- Any mobility aids you may need
- For a child – favourite toy, formula, bottle, nappies and any other special needs items
- Please limit the number of bags to one, you are less likely to have your belongings misplaced
Please do not bring
Valuables such as jewellery, large sums of cash, or other valuable items. The hospital will not accept responsibility should they become lost or damaged.
Please make your own arrangements with your family or friends to wash your personal clothing.
