It was a full house in today’s Grand Rounds session, which was also the first for the year.
More than 70 clinicians gathered to hear from Emergency Staff Specialist Dr Neale Thornton and Surgical Principal House Officer Dr Ashley Jenkin on the bariatric patient and a case with complications from gastric banding.
With the national increase in bariatric surgery it’s important clinicians are able to recognise and respond to patients with complications.
Grand Rounds is a weekly education and research forum run by the Mackay Hospital and Health Service’s Medical Education Unit.
