Heart Health Team exercise physiologist Shaneen O’Brien is stepping outside of her job and encouraging former cardiac patients to be healthy after hospital.
Shaneen has been formally recognised for her efforts and was invited to a Heart Foundation parliamentary breakfast earlier this month to speak about her ideas for involving the community in heart healthy activities.
She started the walking groups about 10 months ago to provide a way for patients to continue exercising after completing the eight-week cardiac rehabilitation program.
“The walking groups are a way they can keep active after leaving the hospital’s formal program and are also open to anyone in the community,” she said.
